They say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, so you’re sure to fall in love! Joie de vivre and indulgence have always been intertwined in WIESBADEN RHEINGAU. The people of the region are proud of the incredible treats they produce, stopping at nothing to bring the fertile, bountiful fruits of our home to your plate and glass.     

The mild climate here has yielded delicacies from the fields, rivers and forests for generations. We share our long-standing traditions while adding new ideas, embracing fresh inspiration and incorporating current culinary trends.

 

 

 

It’s hard to pick a favourite. For some, it’s the ‘Wingertsknorze’, rye bread shaped like a vine, baked together with ham, tomato and cheese. For others it’s a beautifully warm Handkäsekuchen (savoury cheese cake) at the Krug in Hattenheim or the legendary wild herb Spundekäse (a cheese dip) from Assmannshäuser Kräuterwirte, which features burnet, chickweed and wild garlic.

Still others prefer a good glass of red wine. And don’t forget to visit Hochheim’s weekly market for breakfast, which is sure to put a smile on your face. After all, the early bird catches the worm. Or, better yet, the delightful smell of apples, a great selection of berries and the chance to chat with Britta, the fresh egg seller.  

Farm shops, markets and cottage industries such as the Wacholderhof and its Landcafé close to Eltville, the orchard on the heath in Geisenheim or Julia’s Hofladen (farm shop) in Erbach share the gifts nature gives us, such as rose and apple chutney, beer mustard, pinot noir chocolate or espresso roasted over vine cuttings. Or you could simply warm up with a classic — Rüdesheimer coffee, which includes flambéed Asbach Uralt, a German brandy. Rumour has it that the version found in the Drosselgasse tastes the best...
