The islands are located in the Middle Rhine between Lorch and Niederheimbach, around ten kilometers downstream from the Binger Loch. They extend from the Bächergrund to the ferry line from Lorch to Niederheimbach, which makes a curve around the lower end of the islands, from Rhine kilometer 538 to 540. The length of the uninhabited islands together is just under two kilometers with a width of up to 150 meters. Both are flat and are partially flooded at high tide.
