The Strunk, a medieval round tower, can be found behind the embankment on the southern shore of the Wisper. The tower was built around 1567 and served to defend the mouth of the Wisper and the Wisper Bridge, which was built in 1556, as well as serving as a prison.

The upper level of the tower and the platform can be accessed via a projecting stair tower. The walls are made of slate and sandstone, with four alcoves covered by pointed arches featuring small square windows or arrow slits inside. The dungeon was once a hole in the vault.

In the years 2005 and 2006, the tower was restored and is now open for visits upon registration.

On the first floor, there is a wedding room. It is still possible to look down into the former dungeon through a floor hatch, which is now blocked by grating bars.
Today, there is a small information center about the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley set up there, which can be accessed through a new entrance from the outside.
During the opening hours of the information center, both the wedding room and the platform can be visited, offering a beautiful panoramic view over Lorch.
