The hiking trail leads from the Stiegelstraße bus stop through Bachstraße, Ernst-Göbel-Straße to Bierhausweg and into Lindental. We hike through Lindental and turn right at the fork to the smallest Wiesbaden suburb: Heßloch. At the edge of the village, we cross Vogelsangstraße and go straight on, first past a playground, later past the sports and tennis courts, and enter the forest towards Erbsenacker. In front of the Erbsenacker settlement, which already belongs to the Wiesbaden suburb Naurod, the natural monument Schwarze Steinkaut is located a little hidden to the left of the path. This crater is a former basalt quarry of volcanic origin. At the end of the Erbsenacker settlement, we meet the European long-distance hiking trail E3, Atlantic-Ardennes-Bohemian Forest, marked with a blue St. Andrew's cross. We now follow this path to today's destination: Platte, 500 m above sea level, the highest point of the anniversary circular hiking trail. A beautiful view now opens up for the hiker to the Hochtaunus and the Feldberg massif, as well as to the nearby Kellerskopf, 474 m above sea level, with observation tower and inn. After crossing a larger road intersection, we reach the Tannenhof, an agricultural property, and the Wilhelm-Bausch-Hütte located at the forest edge. At the shelter, the long-distance trail continues towards Kellerskopf and Platte. Below the Rassel, 539 m above sea level, we come to a large network of paths with a shelter, the so-called Octagon. We walk on the Herzogsweg, which is still part of the long-distance trail, past a former quarry directly to the 'Platte'. A usually full parking lot in front of the castle ruins shows that we have arrived at a popular excursion destination. The federal road 417, coming from Wiesbaden over the Platte, is an ancient connection between Wiesbaden, Limburg and the Lahn area. In the years 1822–1842, Duke Wilhelm of Nassau built a neoclassical hunting lodge on the Platte. The hunting lodge was easily accessible from the city residence in Wiesbaden and was located in the middle of an excellent hunting ground. From the castle itself, there was a unique view of Wiesbaden and the Rhine valley towards Mainz. This view can still be enjoyed today from the platform in the current castle ruins. On February 2, 1945, the hunting lodge, which was used as an anti-aircraft control center, was destroyed in an attack by the British Air Force. In 1987, a foundation took over the castle and made it usable again. It is now available for events and celebrations. The Platte is a good starting point for small and larger hikes and, in winter, with good snow conditions, a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. A well-marked cross-country ski trail network and a lovely toboggan run then delight winter athletes. A forest playground with a lawn and barbecue hut as well as an inn complete the offer on the Platte. We finish the third stage of the circular hiking trail on the Platte and have the opportunity to stop at the inn 'Jagdschloss Platte' and enjoy the beautiful view.
