Start the route in the Harbor Park in Rüdesheim near the Rhine beach. Right away it’s time to “pedal” up into the vineyards, over which the cable car gondolas glide. The sisters of the St. Hildegard Abbey have chosen a wonderful spot. Here the view extends far into the Middle Rhine Valley and to Rheinhessen on the other side of the Rhine.
It gets truly idyllic in the Blaubach Valley on the shaded path to the Nothgottes Monastery before the path continues through the vineyards past the MUST-SEEs Schloss Johannisberg, Schloss Vollrads, and Kloster Eberbach. Here, the bat Fine, kestrel Falco, and grape courier Karl tell their stories from the Rheingau.
Out of the Kisselbach Valley at Kloster Eberbach, up to Kiedrich to the rook Didi, who lives high up in the tower of Scharfenstein Castle. Another nice place to rest. Down you go past the Sonnenberghäuschen before a gravel path leads to Eltville. In the wine, sparkling wine, and rose city, you should also plan a break. It’s best to leave your bikes at the wine tasting stand and stroll through the Electoral Castle with its rose garden.
On the further way back to Rüdesheim, you can breathe in Rhine air and simply enjoy the wonderful river landscape.
