A good way to explore the region is by bike: you can take the train (‘Hunsrückbahn’) from the train station in Boppard to Emmelshausen. Cycling back, you will go mostly downhill along old train tracks. Eventually you will get to the “Oberweseler Stadtwald”. The city of Oberwesel with lots of interesting historical sites is a perfect place for a little break. If you are still feeling ambitious, you can cycle back to your starting point using the Rhine Cycle Route. If you decide for a more relaxed way of travelling back, you can enjoy the views of the Rhine River from one of the cruise boats or the regional train.

You think hiking is boring? Think again! Pack your bags with a nice lunch and discover the different (circular) hiking trails around the Romantic Rhine. Do you know the names of the many castles you pass? How many lizards hide in the cracks of the dry stone walls? There is always something to explore…
