Your hiking trip on the Lieser Trail includes four diverse stages between 15 and 23 kilometers with space for what really matters: Your path, your pace, your very personal experience.

The starting point is the idyllic Lieser spring near Boxberg in the Vulkaneifel. After checking into your accommodation in Daun, a hiking taxi will comfortably take you to the spring near Boxberg, when you start is entirely up to you. Thus, your short vacation begins without stress and entirely at your rhythm. Upon arrival at the Lieser spring, you will embark on the first stage, approximately 15 kilometers long, back to the charming Eifel town of Daun.

On the second hiking day, the route takes you about 18 kilometers further to the romantic castle town of Manderscheid, where you will spend your second night. Along the way, you will encounter quiet forest passages, impressive views, and many spots to pause. Ideal for consciously switching off and enjoying nature intensively.

The nearly 23-kilometer stage from Manderscheid to the spa town of Wittlich is considered, according to hiking book author Manuel Andrack, “the most beautiful hiking trail in the world.” This section requires some hiking experience, as it has an alpine character in places and demands sure-footedness and a head for heights. Those who take on this challenge will be rewarded with spectacular paths and impressive landscapes. You will spend your third and final night in Wittlich.

From Wittlich, the gateway between Eifel and Mosel, you will finally continue your hike leisurely to Lieser or Bernkastel-Kues at the Mosel. The choice is entirely yours. At the Mosel, your hiking experience ends, filled with diverse impressions, moments of tranquility, and the good feeling of having walked your own path. Departure will be on the same day from Lieser or Bernkastel-Kues.

2. Stage Lieser Trail Daun – Manderscheid, 18 km
3. Stage Lieser Trail Manderscheid – Wittlich, 23 km

Over approximately 74 kilometers in four stages you will accompany the Lieser through the fascinating volcanic Eifel to the Mosel. Your starting point is the charming Eifel town of Daun with the world-famous "Eyes of the Eifel," the maars, nestled in a volcanic landscape of forests, ridges, and quiet paths.
Along the wild and romantic Lieser, you will encounter impressive sites such as the Castle Town of Manderscheid with the Upper and Lower Castle, the charming Säubrenner Town of Wittlich, and the idyllic Mosel village of Lieser at the mouth of the river.
