The start is at the wine tasting stand in Oestrich. Through the underpass, you reach the wine loading crane: old and creaky. For over 275 years, the Rhine has always revolved around good wine here. If ever a wine loading crane had something to tell, it would only be one like ours here. The scan tells of the crane's youth, the wine, and the legwork. The path leads over the towpath to the ferry dock and then back through the underpass onto the B 42a. After a few hundred meters, the Basilica of Aegidius is reached: impressively simple Romanesque invites you to take a look inside the special church. The scan reveals more about the figures and the hiding place in the high altar.
Continue walking along the Rhine path to the next underpass to breathe in some Rhine air. A few meters along the Rhine, then the path leads back to the Rhine path and to the last stop in Oestrich-Winkel: scan and immerse yourself in the spirit of Rhine Romanticism. If Angela von Brentano has something to tell about the house, it is both history and family history at the same time. Also involved: Achim von Arnim, Wilhelm Grimm, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and the spirit of Rhine Romanticism.
From here, you can easily take bus line 171 back to Oestrich. On foot, walk past the Brentano barn towards the edge of town. After the railway underpass, turn into Geiffenclaustraße. The path now leads through residential streets, scenic vineyard locations, and finally through the Oestrich town center past the charming marketplace back to the starting point.
