The path skirts the southern edge of Hochheim’s historic old town, which is worth a detour. Timber-framed houses line the rustic alleys. The church of St. Peter and Paul, a gem of Baroque, holds real treasures inside. Back in the vineyards, the path leads to Schöne Aussicht (Beautiful View). A wonderful rest spot whose name lives up to its promise: a panoramic view over the Main river and vineyards to the Frankfurt skyline. Some vineyards are already ennobled by their names, such as the five-hectare Königin-Victoriaberg in the best southern location of Hochheim. The seven-meter-high Queen Victoria monument commemorates the visit of the queen in 1845 and her love for Hochheim wine. A delightful conclusion is the path along the riverbank of the Main in the evening sun.
