The rose garden in the Kurfüstliche Burg Eltville am Rhein was created in 1979.

It is home to over 350 different varieties of roses, including historic roses, climbing roses up to 10 meters high and Japanese roses. The roses can be found in the castle garden, but also in the historic moat and along the Rhine promenade. These include numerous very rare rose varieties. Eltville am Rhein has been recognized as a Rose Town by the German Rose Friends Association since 1988. Every year at the beginning of June, the town invites visitors to the “Rose Days” event in Eltville am Rhein. Over 10,000 roses bloom in summer.
