Stages 12+13 MainRadweg: from Aschaffenburg to Mainz - pleasure cycling from the sources to the estuary

The landscape changes significantly from Aschaffenburg onwards. The Main valley is wider, mountains are hardly visible. Even after Aschaffenburg, you are hardly confronted with road traffic on the MainRadweg, although the Rhine-Main area that begins here is heavily populated. The MainRadweg continues through the countryside, always close to the Main. The landscape "experience" of the last section of the tour is an essential part of the Main experience. With the exception of the through-roads, the route also follows traffic-free cycle paths along the river to the mouth of the Main.

Length of stage: 92 km Ascent: 71 m Descent: 96 m The MainRadweg is uniformly well signposted in both directions, detours from the cycle route are marked. The signposts show the names of the towns and the kilometres to the nearest towns.

With the Bayern-Fahrplan, the Verkehrsverbund Grossraum Nürnberg (VGN) and agilis, many destinations within Franconia are well connected.

Traffic load and path conditions The route runs in sections alongside main roads (roadside cycle path), but mostly on real cycle paths directly on the banks of the Main, occasionally also on unpaved paths. Due to the largely asphalted road surface and the few gradients, the route is ideal for families Further information: www.mainradweg.com
