Chronically mentally ill people lived for decades in psychiatric hospitals. As part of a reform, they were to be discharged back into the community. How can people with mental disabilities be enabled to participate in the community and be provided with a home and meaningful employment? Using the example of Eichberg, as the psychiatry in the region is commonly referred to, Gabriela Deutschle, the long-time head of the accompanying psychiatric services at Vitos Rheingau, describes the concept of dehospitalization and her experiences and insights.
The moderation is by Ulrich Bachmann.
