Mediathek Eltville: Day of Libraries - Reading Seminar with

Verena Hoenig on Saturday, October 24 from 1 – 6 p.m.

Books and stories open doors to fascinating worlds for children and are wonderfully suitable for playful language and reading promotion. Children need books – and they need adults who read books to them, tell stories, and pass on their own enthusiasm for reading.

As part of a one-day reading seminar with Verena Hoenig on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in the Mediathek Eltville, interested participants will learn practically and vividly how they can become reading mentors. Additionally, the speaker will explain how to ideally design a reading session. There will also be many tips on how to best read to children in a group. The event will be accompanied by an extensive exhibition of current picture books.

The seminar is aimed at anyone who would like to read voluntarily and regularly in daycare centers or elementary schools. All participants will receive a certificate at the end.

The speaker Verena Hoenig is a passionate book mediator who works as a journalist and juror in the field of children's literature. For her commitment, she received the avj media prize. This award honors outstanding journalistic engagement in the field of children's and young people's literature. Ms. Hoenig has been reading voluntarily in a kindergarten for years.

The training will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Eltville Mediathek (Rheingauer Straße 28) and is free of charge.
