Rheinsteig in the Rheingau

In the Rheingau, the premium route starts at Castle Biebrich in Wiesbaden along the Rhine. Gentle climbs follow, which lead over vineyards, wide meadows, and forests repeatedly to spring-fresh streams. Along the wooded Taunus slopes, the view opens up to the sunlit vineyards or the legendary Rhine. At Rüdesheim, the river breaks through the rocks, and the valley becomes impressively steep. Castle after castle towers to the right and left, whose names, e.g. Binger Mäuseturm, suggest their eventful history.
